The university started operations in 1986 and had 5 faculties at the beginning. Muscat University is a highly recognized university located in the centre of Muscat, the capital city of Oman. The university has been approved by the Omani Education Council and was established in April 2016. The institution centered its core business in business studies, entrepreneurship and to further consolidate its vision in providing high quality education has built solid relationship with Business communities in Oman. The university collaborates with Cranfield University to provide a wide range of postgraduate programs to equip professionals in business management, Logistics, and infrastructure development.

Higher College of Technology is the second-largest university in the country of Oman and has such had a significant part in the modernization of the country of  Oman. The university was founded in 1984, and it has steadily grown in stature from then. Higher College of Technology has a vision of being in the forefront of higher education institutions in technological education nationally and regionally.

A world class university and classified among the best scientific universities in the country, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) was founded in 2018 with the aim to promote scientific excellent education in the country. The university is the product of the merge of three major university colleges. Since its establishment, the university has impacted lives, expanded in scope and services, and has become the leading scientific university in the country offering innovative applications in science and technology.

Sohar University is the first private university in Oman and was founded in 2001. Located in Sohar which is the second-largest city in Oman and gives you the opportunity to study in a city that is more laid back that the stressful capital city. The student has the opportunity  to study in a friendly and secure environment  and in a university with a world-class campus.

Located in the Northern part of Oman, University of Baraimi is a private university founded in  2010. The creation of the university was the initiative of the European-Omani Consortium. It is a modern university that based its education system on quality training and equip its students with skillsets to fit in the local and global markets through the hard works of the engaged international team of qualified professors.

Dhofar University was established in September 2004. It is the leading university offering diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs in Oman. The university is a driven social and cultural entity creating sustainable learning environment to accelerate the education process and is apt to promote and maintain excellent teaching, learning, and research. Since its establishment, the institution has excelled academically and has occupied the irrevocable position among the recognized universities in the country.

A'Sharqiyah University was established in 2009 and is located in the north of A'Sharqiyah Governorate about 150 km from Muscat in Oman. It is a private owned university and is recognized for the quality of the academic programs offered. It is devoted in using new teaching technologies and scientific research to develop its students to fit into the local and the international job markets. The student population has considerably increased and currently is 3100 students.

University of Nizwa (UoN) is the first not for profit university in the Sultanate of Oman. At moment, the university has enrolled over 6,000 students. It was founded in the year 2004 and is located about 140 km from the capital city Muscat. As the main philosophy, the institution is engaged to providing a high quality of training to its valued students to be able to support the economy, Arts, and the aesthetic development in their various society.
