Night Life In Norway

Since Oslo is the most populous city in the country and the majority of the population lives there or in its surrounding cities, the nightlife is very interesting but not surprisingly expensive.

Regardless of this, students spend their time wisely and have fun on a budget enjoying the night scene in this beautiful city.

For a good start to the evening, we recommend drinks at the grünerlokka hipster district just a bit north of downtown, most bars here have a cozy outdoor patio with friendly locals.

One fun place for this is, ‘Bortenfor’ a homely bar with a riverside view. After a few drinks, head over to the torgatta street, here you will find cafe’s that serve good old fashioned Norwegian beer.

There is a magic ice bar that serves Norwegian ice wine and gets a glimpse of the ice versions of the famous Norwegian screen paintings.

There is also the strøget alleyway in the downtown court area which houses a conglomerate of bars with places such as Uhørt, Angst, and Karusell which has a more laid back and relaxed vibe. Importantly, do not forget to try the typical Norwegian drink called ‘Akvavit’.

As the night progresses, step it up a notch and head on over to the club. There are many options to choose from in the city, one of which is Jæger, with such a catchy name this is one of the better clubs in the city with a large dancefloor in the basement and attracts a really cool crowd.

There is also another club named Stratos which is very popular on Saturdays, with really good music and an atmosphere that is eccentric and modern. Your late-night party cravings and crawlings will definitely be met and satisfied in Norway.

Another fun thing to do at night or on the weekends is to see a movie, but do not be afraid, movie cinemas in Norway show movies in English but with Norwegia subtitles.

There is also a place called ‘Kulturhuset’ where young people gather to have a great time. It is an incredible social venue where they play different board games, card games, fuss ball, ping-pong, and even pool, it is one of the best places to meet and mingle with the locals or other foreigners.

RocApply advises that those below the legal drinking age of 18 do not engage in alcohol-driven activities as this is heavily punishable in Norway.
