EUI was set up to satisfy the expanding need for quality higher education in Edo State specifically, and in Nigeria by and large. The Edo State Government initially understood that creating human capital through quality training is the key to championing relevant improvement in the State, thus the need to set up a University that will give quality and practical instruction.
The university is likewise expected to push for the social, financial, political, social, logical and mechanical development of the State and Nigeria.
Similarly, EUI aims to be a beacon of advanced education in Nigeria and globally, leading in multiple areas of learning, research, and technology. Setting up all the right avenues to become a significant benefactor of information and comprehension to serve the socio-cultural and developmental needs of the individuals of Edo State specifically and the whole of the country.
As a growing campus, EUI is at the verge of becoming one of Nigeria’s most digital campuses with unrivaled modern facilities. The university boasts of state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, and dormitory facilities.
There is also a world-standard Library that houses a vast array of academic materials, books, journals, and e-learning amenities of both online and physical categories.
EUI has accredited and certified degree-awarding programs in six (6) faculties by the governing body of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other expert bodies.

In keeping with the university’s commitment to promoting top-tier level education for the future leaders of the Nigerian and Global society, EUI offers scholarship opportunities for outstanding students who demonstrate exceptional academic abilities.
This scholarship is entirely merit-based and offered to new students enrolled into undergraduate programs at the university. EUI also has several other reward scholarships and tuition waivers for certain students under the university’s guidelines.
Scholarships are awarded yearly by the university for eligible students who meet the requirements.
Full Scholarship Award for Undergraduate Students
The Undergraduate Full Scholarship Award (UFSA) is available to eligible students who enroll into any program at the university and lasts for the complete duration of their choice degree program.
Under the university’s guidelines a total of five deserving students with an outstanding academic track record will receive this award. Please note that only candidates with a band score of at least 260 and above in their UTME examinations are eligible to apply.
Other requirements include English Language Proficiency (CBT) and program-specific requirements for enrollment.
Indigenous Students Scholarship Award
In fulfilling a social responsibility to the community, EUI devotes a unique scholarship award to eligible indigene students from Edo State. Ensuring that quality education is accessible at all levels, recipients of this award receive partial scholarships for the entire duration of their degree programs at EUI.
Please note that only candidates with a band score of at least 200 and upwards in their UTME examinations are eligible to apply. Other requirements include English Language Proficiency (CBT) and proof of indigeneity

At EUI, on-campus accommodation is mandatory for all students, the university has provided en-suite dormitories and student lodgings that are conducive and secure for both male and female students.
Dormitories are divided into Male and Female Dorms with supervised rules and guidelines to ensure safety and maintain decency. All dormitories are allocated to students at their respective levels from 1styear to final year.
All dormitories have comfortable beds, wardrobe, bathrooms and common or recreational areas. The cost for accommodation goes between ₦120,000 to ₦200,000 for one academic year depending on the accommodation type and the level the student is.
Foreign students are expected to pay around $500 to $833 for any of EUI’s luxurious student rooms on campus. All dormitories are serviced and maintained by personnel employed by the university with adequate security that monitor every activity.
Rooms and common spaces are regularly cleaned and laundry services are available for students who request it.
At Edo university, on-campus accommodation is mandatory for all students. Therefore there is no off-campus accommodation facility at Edo university.
EUI is not all study and no fun, the university is committed to delivering the complete student experience which include social activities.
The sports and recreational facilities at EUI’s campus help develop the competitive spirit of its students and staff. Sports and athletic activities are a brilliant avenue to keep students motivated, there are facilities for games such as Football Baseball, Tennis, and Volleyball for both male and female students on campus.
There are a mixture of restaurants, canteens, and a cafeteria that serve local and intercontinental dishes. Nigerian food is a blend of flavors and spices that are sure to tickle your taste buds, a vast range of indigenous meals are available at all times of the day. '
Prices of food might vary but expect to pay ₦200 to ₦500 for one meal depending on what you fancy. Restaurants and canteens are on campus and are regularly checked by the university to ensure that they meet all health and safety conditions for operation.
There is also a nearby market with stores that sell different necessary items that students might need.
Edo State is an inland state in South-Central Nigeria. Its capital is Benin City. It was shaped in 1991 by the split of Bendel State into Edo and Delta State. Edo state is home to a few notable ethnic lines, among them the Bini, Esan and Afemai.
