About University Moulay Ismail

Moulay Ismail University was established in 1989 and has since become one of the leading institutions of higher education in Morocco. It is named after Moulay Ismaïl, a Sultan of Morocco from 1672-1727.

The university’s main campus is located in Meknes, a city in northern Morocco. Meknes combines the old and the new with its medina which is full of historical sights, and its ville nouvelle which, less than three miles away, is home to modern cars, houses and well-known brands.

The university also has a smaller campus located in the southern city of Errachidia. The city is situated between the High Atlas Mountains and the sand hills of the desert.

About Meknes

Meknes is a city in northern Morocco. It’s known for its imperial past, with remnants including Bab Mansour, a huge gate with arches and mosaic tiling. The gate leads into the former imperial city. The Mausoleum of Sultan Moulay Ismail, who made the city his capital in the 17th century, has courtyards and fountains. To the south, ruined Heri es-Souani is a vast structure once used as stables and for food storage.
