In a bid to increase foreign student enrolment into higher education in Mauritius, the government has revamped the educational sector where many scholarships and tuition or research grants are now being offered to support foreign students in the country. Universities and other private sector establishments also provide funding to foreign students in several ways.

Mauritius Africa Scholarships For African Students:
In keeping the country’s devotion to progress and development in pushing the continent forward, the Mauritius government awards scholarships to high-flying students from countries in the African Union or citizens of member states of the African Commonwealth following a few criteria. The scholarship is open to students in undergraduate and post-graduate levels in any public university in Mauritius, and it covers their tuition for the entire duration of their full-time studies. The scholarship also provides stipends for their monthly upkeep and covers their airfare from their countries at the beginning of their program and after completion.
University of Mauritius – Financial Assistance for Foreign Students
The university has set aside a fund scheme for its students where they can apply for financial aid towards their education in Mauritius. The scholarship is awarded to students in the bachelor’s division of study regardless of their departments. Up to $10,000 can be received under this fund and interested candidates must come from low-income backgrounds where university education might be a challenge.
Mastercard Foundation Scholarship
Every year the Mastercard Foundation offers fully funded grants and scholarships to students from developing countries whose talent and promise exceed their financial resources towards finishing their higher education in Mauritius. The program provides comprehensive support in both financial, social and academic avenues to scholars. Financial support includes tuition fees, accommodation, books and, other scholastic materials.
