Children in Mauritania enter formal education or primary school At the age of 6 years. Primary education lasts for 6 years and is from grades 1 to 6 for children aged 6 to 12 years. To complete primary education, students will sit for a primary school leaving examination where they will receive the Primary Education Certificate (CEP) which is a gateway to secondary school studies. Primary education is compulsory for children aged 6 to 16.

Curriculum- the primary school curriculum is a continuation of the pre-primary curriculum in the first few grades. It cements on a variety of subjects and areas including reading and writing, arithmetic, and the development of problem-solving abilities. After the 3rd grade, students can then start learning more including Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science, Health Science Arts and Music, Geography, History, Geography, languages Proficiency, Physical education, sport, and Arts education, to mention but a few. It prepares the student to take the final 6th-grade school-leaving examination and prepare for entry into secondary education.

A $500 non-refundable deposit will be required to guarantee a child’s place at the school following acceptance. This amount will be deducted from the first tuition invoice.
