About Malta:

The small island state of Malta with approximately 490,000 inhabitants and the size of the Gaza strip has had quite an interesting history. UNESCO has named the capital city Valletta as the most concentrated historical city in the world. Malta may be small but the country has centuries worth of history that has played major roles in the modern civilization of the European continent.

About the city:

Kalkara is a small town with an area of 1.75 square kilometers and about 3,000 inhabitants. Kalkara is located in the east of Malta, overlooking Grand Harbor. In Roman times, the city had a lime kiln obtained from lime. Kalkara has two bays leading to Rinella Bay and Grand Harbor, also known as Kalkara Creek, and two peninsulas known as Bighi and Ricasoli.
