UPM provides a total of 17 residential colleges for the accommodation of more than 3000 students. Each residential college offers a variety of complete and modern facilities to meet the needs of students.

Selangor was originally a region of the Sultanate of Malacca. Later, when Malacca spread to Portugal and then to the Dutch, Bugiler of Sulawesi came to Selangor and settled.
In the late 18th century, Selangor's economy flourished due to the development of the tin industry and the demand for rubber. Large numbers of Chinese immigrants arrived but were involved in the civil war, disrupting precious metal mining and the rubber trade. Britain seized the opportunity to control the country, restore order and enrich Selangor. After the war, it became part of Malaysia on Independence Day.
Today, Selangor has become a modern state with the latest technology and infrastructure. Citizens from all over Malaysia flocked to Selangor (and Kuala Lumpur) to work and start their businesses.
