Putrajaya has exceptional purpose-built leisure facilities. There are many green spaces around its extensive 1,600 acre lakes and a wide range of sports and leisure amenities. There is even a 200 metre-long, freshwater pantai berpasir - sandy beach - five minutes from the campus. Facilities include a highly acclaimed Extreme Sports centre, several Futsal centres, an Equestrian Centre and a number of multi-purpose sports centres. There are water sports of all kinds on the lake and three public swimming pools.
Putrajaya hosts many world-class events throughout the year including the International Fireworks Competition, Youth Festival, International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta and the Red Bull Air Race World Championships.
