Tuition and Scholarships at Mykolas Romeris University

For an ambitious, persistent, and talented prospective student, obtaining a university degree from an internationally recognized higher institution can be financially difficult. This is why Mykolas Romeris University believes that the motivation and desire for development should be encouraged on all platforms.

Because of this, universities try to keep tuition affordable. Also, the university provides many opportunities for financial support-scholarships for newly enrolled students, scholarships for outstanding students, scholarships for extracurricular activities, and sports achievements.

Different courses have different corresponding academic fees and as such we ask that prospective applicants please contact us for the specific tuition fee that they are expected to pay at MRU.

Scholarships at MRU

MRU employs several efforts to ensure that regardless of economic status, all of their students have access to quality education, therefore, the following listed opportunities are available to provide all possible scholarships for international students.

Social Scholarship

The award of a social scholarship takes into account the insured income of the family, academic progress, and other important circumstances, as well as the funds provided for social scholarships in the University's estimate of expenses for the respective year.

Recipients of this scholarship include students in Bachelor's, Master's, professional students, and doctoral students. The social scholarship is a one-time payment is awarded for students in difficult financial situation, death of relatives, illness, natural disasters, and in other special cases.

The purpose of the social scholarship is to cover tuition fees, for living in the Student House, and general living expenses.

The student must indicate in the application for what purpose the scholarship is required. If the social scholarship is awarded for a contribution to studies or for living in a student home, the University Finance Service makes a payment to cover the corresponding student contribution.

Scholarship amount: from 2 to 30 BSI (1 BSI = 39 EUR).

Incentive Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded to the best students. The best-performing students in the academic unit are determined each semester according to the study results - the weighted average of the evaluations of the last session, which is not less than 8.0 points (the average is not rounded, for example, if the average is 7.8, it is considered that 8.0 points.

If the weighted average of the last session is the same, the total weighted average of the evaluations of the previous session is considered, and if it is the same, the entrance competition score is considered. Recipients of this scholarship include undergraduate and graduate students and are awarded twice a year:

  • All listed scholarship provided by the Government of Lithuania or Mykolas Romeris University
  • Additional funding may come from the student's country of origin
  • All EU citizens can apply for state-sponsored funding opportunities
  • Scholarships can be provided here for current international students

One-Off Incentive Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded for active scientific, cultural, social, or sports activities that glorify the name of MRU, for high achievements in scientific, cultural, or sports activities that glorify the name of MRU. The scholarship can also be awarded to the best-studying state-funded undergraduate and graduate students. The recipients include Bachelor's, Master's, professional students, doctoral students, and the scholarship is awarded and paid once a semester.

Professor Mykolas Romeris Nominal Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded for excellent (in exceptional cases - very good) study results and exceptional achievements in scientific, cultural, or sports activities. Awarding a scholarship, the student can be nominated by the University Academic Council, the University Student Representative Office, the local ELSA branch, or the Student Scientific Society. Students can apply for the scholarship for the autumn semester until October 1, and for the spring semester until March 1. Proposals for candidates are submitted to the University Senate Study Commission. Recipients include Bachelor's and Master's students and the scholarship is awarded twice a year:

Scholarship amount: 4 BSI (1 BSI = 39 EUR).

International Ambassador Scholarship 

The scholarship is awarded: for the proper and responsible performance of the duties defined in the regulations of the University's network of international ambassadors. The International Ambassador applying for the International Ambassador’s Fellowship shall, no later than 10 January or June 10. Applies to the responsible employee of the Communication and Marketing Center, Reception and Marketing Department, submitting a report on his/her activities. Beneficiaries include students belonging to the University's network of international ambassadors and the scholarship is awarded and paid once per semester.

Student Charity and Support Foundation

The beneficiaries of this support scholarship include students who represent the University in various international competitions, practical - scientific seminars, projects, forums, participate in internships, targeted summer camps, international conferences, scientific societies, art, sports, or other academic activities. This support fund is to cover the participation fee or to reimburse travel and subsistence expenses of the recipients.

Tuition Discounts and Waivers

In the cases specified in the MRU Contribution Payment Administration Procedure, the tuition fee may be reduced by up to 50% or the student may be fully exempted from tuition fees. The student submits an application for the reduction or exemption from the tuition fee to the head of the academic unit within 15 calendar days from the beginning of the semester. The application must be accompanied by documents confirming the student's compliance with the requirements and the recommendations of the relevant University staff. The decision on reduction or exemption of tuition fees is made by the Rector on the proposal of the University Social Affairs Commission.

About Mykolas Romeris University

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) named after Mykolas Romeris the Patriarch of the Lithuanian Constitution, is Lithuania's largest professional social science university, the most prominent part of the law, business, and public administration.

The university has a strong and important core in education, economics, humanities, communication studies, political science, psychology, sociology, science aspects of management.

Mykolas Romeris University is a public higher institution that is composed of two faculties and four institutes and the MRU School of Law, and the School of Public Safety.

The university teaches programs in more than 90 bachelor's, master's, and doctorate specialties in Lithuanian and English. The research should be conducted following the basic principles of the Bologna process.

The main areas of research are business, communication, economics, education, finance, history, management, informatics, law, management, linguistics, philosophy, political science, psychology, public administration, public safety, social work, and sociology.

MRU currently has 7,500 students, including 600 international students, and over 400 faculty members. The university offers doctoral, masters, and bachelor's programs.

More than 80% of them are internationally recognized. The most popular study courses are law, management, public administration, psychology, social work, public safety, etc.

About 200 doctoral students study in the fields of law, management, psychology, linguistics, economics, and pedagogy.

MRU has carried out important international and national research projects (about 50 projects per year on average). An international study funded by the European Commission entitled "Creating a Culture of Social Innovation in Higher Education" shows that MRU is the best university to develop social innovation among hundreds of universities in Central and Eastern Europe.

MRU is the first university in Lithuania to implement joint study programs with foreign universities in France, Austria, and Finland, and has established strong research partnerships with universities in South Korea and other Asian regions.

South Korea, Japan, China, and India are still the main countries in the development of university cooperation in Asia. Dongseo in South Korea, Josai in Japan, and Huazong University of Science and Technology in China are just some of the university’s most active partners in Asia.

Mykolas Romeris University successfully performed one of its most important tasks-fostering a culture of research and innovation.

Researchers at Mykolas Romeris University conduct disciplinary and interdisciplinary basic and applied research in the social sciences and humanities.

The university publishes nearly 600 research papers every year, implement nearly 50 research projects, provide about 50 outsourcing services, conduct doctoral research in 6 scientific fields, and provide research-based expert services and solutions to responsible institutions and the public.

In 2015, a branch of Mykolas Romeris University was established to provide a network of social innovation laboratories MRU LAB.

MRU LAB has an interdisciplinary laboratory whose mission is to adapt the latest social, humanistic, technological research, and achievements to the needs of society and enterprises. These laboratories employ approximately 600 scientists and researchers.

MRU LAB is equipped with public places with mobile workplaces, two auditoriums (80 and 30 seats), and all necessary equipment for seminars, meetings, and conferences.

STUDENT LIFE AT MRU

Campus

The university is known and loved in Lithuania for its modern and unique infrastructure. MRU's main campus is surrounded by parks in the north of Vilnius. You can easily reach the campus from all over Vilnius by public transport. The bus to the city center takes about 25 minutes. Campus accommodation is available for all international students from 85 to 100 Euros per month in triple or double rooms of the university dormitory.

For the convenience of the students, there is a canteen and a cafeteria where you can have breakfast, lunch, or dinner for €2 to €4. The university library and conference hall are just a 5-minute walk from the student residence.

Among the many other services provided by the university, there is a completely free large car park, sports grounds, and gyms, outdoor sports equipment, wireless Internet access, cultural and educational activities, foreign language courses, etc.

MRU provides students with appropriate standard accommodation, including dormitories and student hostels.

Due to the very safe and charming neighborhood easily exposed by the facilities, the campus dormitory has become a cradle of communication, friendship, and student participation.

MRU has a total of 3 residences, all for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees. Initial research is appropriate to find a suitable option for yourself on campus.

Foreign students are usually placed in dormitories depending on their accessibility, and most of these dormitories are shared by two or three students.

Each room is equipped with basic furniture such as comfortable beds, chairs, office spaces, and wardrobes. There is also a practical kitchen for those who like to cook for themselves. The kitchen includes a stovetop, refrigerator, and kitchen area.

In addition to the sports or game room, the dormitory has sports, video games, board games, billiard games, and many other game lovers.

Prices

On-campus accommodation costs between €100 and €200 per month, with a refundable deposit between €100 and €150. Other services, such as regular linen change, cost an extra €15 per month.

Off Campus Accomodation at Mykolas Romeris University

Apart from the campus environment, there are many private housing options just a few kilometers from the university to meet the needs of individuals who want to be different from campus dormitories.

There are a number of private rental apartments scattered around Vilnius and Kaunas, these apartments are tasteful and can meet the budget and aesthetic needs of students.

Within walking distance of the university are fully equipped one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments, with costs between 200 and 450 euros depending on the type of building and facilities.

Nowadays, two, three, or even four students come together to rent a private flat or flat and share the room and pay accordingly.

The Mykolas Romeris University Health and Sports Center invites you to participate in basketball, volleyball, football, wrestling, triathlon, chess team, and other sports activities.

The university has designed modern sports function centers equipped with Olympic standard facilities. In this center, students can participate in more than 40 sports groups (for all weather conditions).

The school campus is equipped with courts, track and field sports fields, and sports fields such as football, American football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics, hockey, and rugby.
