Airports in LAOS
There are four international airports in Laos namely Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, Luang Prabang International Airport, Savannakhet International Airport, and the Pakse International Airport.
Luang Prabang International Airport-THis is one of the few international airports in Laos. The airport is located about 4 kilometers from Luang Prabang. It is the second busiest airport in the country and is a regional hub for international flights to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Siem Reap, and other cities including Vientiane and Phongsali. The airport serves airline such as Bangkok Airways, China Eastern Airlines, China Express Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Lao Airlines, Lao Skyway, Lucky Air, Qingdao Airlines, Scoot Singapore, Thai AirAsia, Thai Smile, and Vietnam Airlines
Pakse International Airport
It is one of the few international airports in Laos located in Pakse, the former southern capital city of the Champasak Kingdom. The airport has been in use since 1959 was renovated and re-opened in 2009. The airport is used by both the public and the military. Lao People's Army barracks and the headquarters of Military Region 4 are located next to the airport. The airport serves airlines including Lao Airlines, Lao Skyway
Wattay International Airport
This is one of the few international airports in Laos and the country's main international gateway. It serves the capital Vientiane and is located about 3 km outside of the city center. A larger domestic terminal was constructed in 2018 and connected to the international terminal to increase operations. The airport serves a large number of both local and international airlines. the Department of Civil Aviation head offices and Lao Air are located here. The airport has several facilities such as Banks, Bars, Restaurants, a Duty-free shop, Post office, Shops, and an Internet cafe.
Savannakhet Airport
This is an international airport near Savannakhet. This airport is now served by Lao Airlines as an intermediate stop in its 3 times per week trips between Pakse and Bangkok which commenced in 2008. It is served by Lao Airlines flying from Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi, Pakse, and Vientiane.
Attapeu International Airport
This is an airport that serves Attapeu in Laos which was opened in May 2015 following two years of construction. The airport is located in Attapeu Province, which borders Vietnam, and has seen greater commercial activity over the years. The Attapeu airport has one runway that measures 1,850 by 30 meters and a terminal that can handle 300 passengers per day
