What is the cost of studying in Kosovo?

A year’s tuition in the country is cheaper than in many other countries. Fees may cost between USD 10,000 – USD 15,000. Kosovo’s living costs are considerably cheaper than that of the surrounding region.

A semester’s cost may be equivalent to a month’s cost in popular student cities elsewhere. In many cases, food can be cheaper to buy out rather than cook at home.

About Scholarships

The long and short term academic programs are available in the country across many colleges and educational centers. International students and researchers may apply to BA, MA, Ph.D., and postdoctoral research programs in the country. Furthermore, summer schools and conferences are other excellent academic activities that make the country an attractive destination for scholars and researchers.

Most of the programs also come with fully-funded scholarships and fellowships as well as travel grants and financial aid, thus international students, researchers, and professors can always find a suitable program in Kosovo and apply.

There are numerous scholarships available to support your studying and living here in Kosovo So please don’t miss any of them when planning your study!

A number of scholarships and awards are offered by the government, post-secondary institutions and other public or private organisations to assist non-local students finance their education in the country.

Some are available solely for non-local students, and others are awarded on a competitive basis to all students in spite of nationality or residency status. Non-local students are welcome to apply for the following scholarships and awards offered in Kosovo!

  • The Kosovo Special Administrative Region Government Scholarship recognizes the achievements of outstanding local and international students studying in the eight University Grants Committee-funded institutions, the Kosovo Academy for Performing Arts, and Vocational Training Council. The scholarship is USD10 000 per year for international students students.
  • The Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund provides scholarships to outstanding students, local and international, pursuing full-time locally-accredited self-financing sub-degree or bachelor’s degree programs. The scholarship is USD $13 000 per year for non-local recipients of Outstanding Performance Scholarship.
  • The Kosovo PhD Fellowship Scheme, which was incepted in 2009, aims to attract the best and brightest students from around the  globe to pursue P.h.D programs in the country. The Fellowship Scheme provides an annual stipend of about USD 30,000 and a conference and research-related travel allowance of USD 1,300 per year for each awardee for a period up to 3 years.

  • Applications take time so be patient while waiting for an outcome and whether or not your application has been successful.
  • Applications from women and individuals from other particularly disadvantaged groups are encouraged.
  • Eligible applicants are welcome from all religious backgrounds and ethnic groups.
  • A scholarship, in most cases, will cover full tuition fees, maintenance stipends, visa costs, and return airfares.
  • There is no application fee.
  • Submitting an Application Form does not in any way guarantee you an offer of a scholarship award.
