Early childhood care and education (ECCE) has an important contribution to the future of children, and the overall quality of learning and development of a country The government of Ethiopia has made a significant investment in early childhood education programs since 2010. the government of Ethiopia has set a national goal aimed at enrolling 80% of children below the age of 6 years in kindergarten classes called O-classes.

O-classes are Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centers in schools that are designed to provide children with a year of center-based, pre-primary education ahead of their first year in formal school. It is a one-year preparatory program for children aged 6 before entering grade 1. There are international schools available that offer education from creches, nursery, pre-school, or kindergarten.
