We help you discover the best shopping here and guide you on everything you may need to know apart from the university one-stop application. Curacaoan souvenirs often resemble the culture, history, and philosophy of the country. There is a broad range of goods and a variety of gifts to choose from to suit every taste. Here you will find are some of the most unique items to bring home for friends, family, and yourself.

Willemstad is known for its duty-free shopping in downtown Curacao. The 57-acre Duty Free Zone at the harbor is believed to be the biggest of its kind in the Caribbean. You can purchase fine European goods including jewelry, watches, and fabrics, at the stalls here, but you will need to have them brought to your ship, plane, or indeed mailed directly home. Shops are usually closed on Sundays.

No sales tax and low duty keep prices down elsewhere in Curacao, but the island is not especially known for its bargains. It is, however, pleasant to wander around the friendly souvenirs and crafts shops in Willemstad, and there are several markets. The main one is the Floating Market in Punda, just around the corner from the multicolored buildings. Although mainly visited for fresh produce, there’re also some knick-knack stalls, plus it’s an experience to see the boats.

You can barter, but do not expect rock bottom prices. Popular buys in Curaçao include: Dutch Delft china, jewelry, watches, linens, leather goods, Italian silks, French perfumes, Curacao liqueur and Gouda cheese wheels. You can also pick up quintessential Dutch souvenirs, like clogs, woodcarvings, and lacework.

When shopping in the local markets, feel free to bargain. If you want to get an idea of how much you should be paying, visit the state-run craft markets, which have steady rates. Shops here are mostly open from 8:00 a.m. to noon and from 2:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m on weekdays. Most are closed at least once a week, usually on Sundays, but you will still find something open every day of the week. Carry your bag and go shop in the Curacaoans without any fear or fret, we've got your back covered at RocApply.
