The University of Dubrovnik is the “youngest university in Croatia. It was established in 2003. on the foundations of a very long tradition which goes back to the 17th century, but also on decades of modern higher education.
By its programs, its organisation and its technical equipment, the University of Dubrovnik can be stands among very modern educational institutions.

They offer fourteen three-year university undergraduate studies, three three-year professional undergraduate studies, twelve two-year university graduate studies, two two-year professional graduate studies, one postgraduate specialist study and five interuniversity postgraduate (doctoral) studies. Another novelty is the Master Double Degree program of the Department of Economics and Business Economics at the University of Dubrovnik and the study of economics and marketing at the University of Palermo, which began with the 2016/2017 academic year. The University also includes the Institute of the Sea and Coast and the Department of Mediterranean Cultures, and the Student Center is also non-institutionally connected.

Subsidized meals are available to all full-time students.
The student pays HRK 7.00 for a complete daily meal (soup, main course with side dish, salad), while the Ministry of Science and Education co-finances HRK 16.10 per meal, which makes the total price of a student meal of HRK 23.10.
At the beginning of the academic year, the Student Center announces a competition to subsidize student nutrition. The subsidy in the amount of HRK 2.00 per meal: HRK 38.00 - 46.00 per month (for students entitled to 1 meal per day) or HRK 120.00 per month (for students entitled to 2 meals per day) is paid by the City of Dubrovnik to the student's current account through the Student Center.

It is to be noted that, according to re - search conducted by the Daily Mail in 2012, Dubrovnik was named the third most romantic place in the world. After his first visit to Dubrovnik the Irish writer George Bernard Shaw wrote: “If you want to se heaven on Earth should come to Dubrovnik.”
