Beijing Language and Culture University is an international university in which students from five continents work together and multi-culturally stimulate each other. Here you can make friends with classmates from all over the world because every year more than 10,000 international students from all over the world come to the school to study. Although they have different skin colors, different religious beliefs, and different cultural backgrounds, they are all pregnant. Application Procedure

International students can choose the major they want to register from among the 26 undergraduate programs, check the relevant materials that need to be submitted for application, and choose one of the following methods to apply for undergraduate courses at Beijing Language and Culture University:

Method 1: Applicants can register and complete the application form directly online via our easy application system.

Method 2: Applicants download the “Admission Application Form" here, and send the completed application form and application materials to the work mailbox of the International Student Admissions Office in China by email.

Note:

(1) The Admissions Office for International Students in China will receive the complete application materials and go through the enrolment procedures after passing the review. Approximately two weeks later, the Admission Letter and Visa Application for Foreigners in China will be sent to the mailing address provided by the student. Table”.

(2) Admitted applicants can apply for an entry visa to China at the Chinese embassy (consulate) in their country with the "Admission Notice" and "Visa Application Form for Studying in China".

Entrance Requirements

Undergraduate Programs:

1. Have graduated from high school or equivalent education, aged 18 years old -50 years old.

2. According to the notice of the Ministry of Education on regulating the employment of international students in our colleges and universities, applicants whose parents or one of their parents are Chinese citizens at the time of birth must submit the following materials to the school:

    (a) Naturalization of  4 years or more with supporting documents or 4 more years of foreign passports;

    (b) Photocopies of passport entry and exit stamp pages for the past 4 years, the originals are available for inspection;

    (c) Certificate of withdrawal of Chinese nationality and certificate of cancellation of original Chinese household registration.

3. For majors in Chinese Language, International Education of Chinese Language, and Translation: Pass the online entrance test of Chinese proficiency in the school (Students with a total score of 180 (inclusive) of HSK level 4 and above in Chinese proficiency may not participate in the written test, but also need to participate in an interview).

4. Other majors in the same class with Chinese students: Chinese proficiency reaches HSK5 level. Those who have not reached HSK level 5 can apply for preparatory courses first.

5. Majors in English: Native English, or IELTS score of 6 points, or TOEFL 90 points / TOEIC 700 points (inclusive) and above, or pass the English entrance test of the school.

6. Majors in Foreign Language: Average proficiency levels in those languages.

  • Transcript: The original copy of my final academic transcript, and high school English results should be included when applying for Chinese-English bilingual direction.

Graduate and Postgraduate Admissions

Applicants must have;

  1. A bachelor’s degree certificate and be under the age of 40.
  2. Obtained a master's degree certificate and is under the age of 45 for Ph.D. applicants.
  3. 80 points or above in HSK Level 5, no less than 60 points in any single subject      
  4. IELTS 6.5 points / TOEFL 100 points / native English
  5. Interview with the departments
  6. Similar or relevant academic background is preferred
  7. Proficiency in a desired foreign language for majors in foreign languages

For Ph.D.

Additional Documents

1. All students who come to school must be in good health.

2. Anyone who is studying in a formal school in China should also provide:    

  • The transfer consent letter from the International Student Office of the university (must be affixed with an official seal).   
  • Recommendation letter from the teacher.    
  • Copy of visa or residence permit in China.

3. The faxed application materials are invalid, and the materials sent and the application fee are not refundable.

About Beijing Language and Culture University

Beijing Language and Culture University is a higher education institution directly subordinate to the Ministry of Education. Beijing University of Language and Culture is the only international university whose main mission is the international teaching of the Chinese language and the teaching of the Chinese language and Chinese culture to foreign students, known as the “little UN”.

It is also a multidisciplinary university with the specificity and advantage of teaching and researching languages, for 50 years, Beijing University of Language and Culture has become an important scientific and educational base for the study of Chinese and foreign languages and culture in China and has become the cradle of international training.

Beijing Language and Culture University was established in 1962. Education

Beijing Language and Culture University has the longest history of international Chinese education and Chinese culture education, the largest scale, and the strongest faculty. So far, the school has trained nearly 220,000 foreign students who understand Chinese and are familiar with Chinese culture for 184 countries and regions in the world. Many of these alumni have become well-known figures in academia, politics, and business.

Since the 1990s, on the one hand, BLCU has maintained its characteristics and advantages in the field of Chinese international education, on the other hand, it has actively developed related disciplines, covering literature, economics, law, engineering, history, education, and, management.

The school currently has 14 research centers (or bases) at or above the provincial and ministerial levels. Among them, the Institute for Chinese International Education is one of the 100 key research bases for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and the Arab Studies Center is the key cultivation of national and regional research by the Ministry of Education.

CAMPUS LIFE AT BLCU

Beijing University of Language and Culture is located on University Avenue in Beijing in the Zhongguanzong Science and Technology Zone, the university occupies 38 hectares, many trees and flowers create a quiet and comfortable atmosphere for living and studying.

The university has modern equipment, linguistic laboratories, multifunctional classrooms, classrooms for simultaneous translation, all classrooms are equipped with infrared equipment and computers, air conditioners, and PPT and video broadcasting equipment.

Double Majors/ Dual Degrees

To reflect the school's educational characteristics, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, our school has been piloting dual degrees and dual majors since 2012. Double degrees and double majors refer to full-time undergraduates who have completed their major majors while studying for second degrees or second major graduation qualifications obtained from other majors. In the tenth teaching week of the fall semester of each academic year, the school's academic affairs office will uniformly announce the dual degree, dual professional teaching plan, enrollment quota, and registration conditions on the website. Full-time undergraduates who are registered in our school and have completed the first semester majoring in professional courses can sign up voluntarily and can only study after passing the test.

Executive Minors

To meet the needs of continuous improvement of students' comprehensive quality and employment competitiveness, the school has special minors in finance, foreign Chinese, and minor languages. The specific minor majors are adjusted and determined according to the current year's teachers. The study time for major minors is generally three semesters. After passing the examination, students can obtain major-minor certificates issued by the school. At the same time, students can also choose courses from nearby colleges and universities for electives through the College Road Course Selection Alliance, and the school will recognize credits.

Exchange Programs

The school has always attached importance to international exchanges and cooperation. Off-campus accommodation (within range of the university) is available, with prices depending on the specific need of the student. Costs also include water and electricity bills. There is also a chance to rent accommodation from a private landlord or estate agent.

Prices fluctuate greatly depending on the location and quality of the apartment, however, the price of housing here averages around 200 to 350 EUR per month

That said, students are often encouraged to stay on campus for at least a year as they find their way around and are hence able to find help from university staff at any time.

Food at Beijing Language and Culture University
