UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS 
Applicants prospecting to study here will be assessed on an individual basis, based on their country’s academic qualifications and standards. The language of instruction and assessment for all programs at Toros University is English for international programs with exceptions.

About Beijing Foreign Studies University

BFSU is a prestigious university in China under the direct leadership of the Chinese Ministry of Education. It was founded in 1941. Beijing Foreign Studies University, or BFSU, located in the Haidian District of Beijing, where the key institutions of higher education and high-tech industries are concentrated, is divided into two campuses – the West Campus and the East Campus. BFSU covers a total area of 492,000 square meters and enjoys access to convenient transportation, with the Third Ring Road running through the two campuses.

It is one of China’s top universities listed under the Project 985 and Project 211, both comprising top universities in China. BFSU is one of China’s oldest language universities. It has the longest history among universities of its kind in China, offering a complete range of degrees, diplomas and programs at various levels, with the largest number of foreign language programs in the country. BFSU was the first in China to recruit and teach foreign students, and was also one of the earliest to provide under- and postgraduate programs teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages. 2017, BFSU was successfully chosen as one of China’s top universities which will participate in the country’s construction plan of world-class universities and first-class disciplines comprising top universities in China. Its core discipline is under construction is Foreign Languages and Literature.

Today, BFSU teaches 84 foreign languages and 97 bachelor degree programs. Excellence in the teaching and research of foreign language and literature has allowed BFSU to enjoy a good reputation for its quality programs, both at home and internationally. In the past 77 years, over 90,000 people have graduated from BFSU. BFSU now serves as an important education base for qualified professionals with language competence, who, after graduation, work as diplomats, translators/interpreters, businessmen, journalists, lawyers, bankers, etc. For example, among BFSU alumni who work or have worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we have over 400 ambassadors and over 1000 counselors. BFSU is thus known as the “Cradle of Diplomats”.


BFSU is superbly staffed with a highly-qualified, experienced and conscientious faculty of 713 members. Among them, 141 are professors, 239 are associate professors, 286 are lecturers, 80 is Ph. D supervisors and 240 is master supervisors. 92% of the faculty have overseas study or work experience. Each year approximately 200 teachers and experts are invited from more than 40 countries to teach at BFSU. 
BFSU has been actively engaged in comprehensive and in-depth international exchange and cooperation. For the present, BFSU has become the most important window for Chinese education opening up to the world. To date, China has established extensive academic links with 441 partner universities and educational institutions in 87 countries and regions and has established 22 Confucius Institutes in collaboration with universities, colleges and institutions from 17 countries in Asia, Europe and America, ranking the first among Chinese universities. Each year, more than 4000 international students from more than 100 countries are coming to visit or study in BFSU. So far, more than 1000 international students enrolled in formal programs have been studying on campus.

On Campus Accomodation at Beijing Foreign Studies University

Four dormitory buildings, located on the Beijing Foreign Studies University campus, are allocated for international students. They are the Guojiao Building on the east campus, the White Building, Building 6 and Building 7 on the west campus. All the rooms are equipped with air-conditioner, television set, telephone, desk and chair, bed and bedding. High-speed Internet Facilities and services are available in dormitory rooms and are provided at a nominal charge.

Off Campus Accomodation at Beijing Foreign Studies University

On the other hand, off-campus accommodation (within range of the university) with similar features is available, with prices depending on the specific need of the student. Costs also include water and electricity bills. There is also a chance to rent accommodation from a private landlord or estate agent.

Prices fluctuate greatly depending on the location and quality of the apartment, however, the price of housing here averages around 200 to 350 EUR per month

That said, students are often encouraged to stay on campus for at least a year as they find their way around and are hence able to find help from university staff at any time.

 

 


Sports at Beijing Foreign Studies University

Besides a sports field with running track, tennis courts and basketball courts, a fully equipped gymnasium is also available to students. Beijing Foreign Studies University Gymnasium covers 7600 square meters and is a comprehensive, multi - functional gymnasium, equipped with swimming pools, sports hall, cardio and weight training facilities, and a chess and card room. Students are also welcome to relax at the leisure bar and coffee shops, or pick up some sports equipment in the merchandise department.

The gymnasium has two indoor swimming pools, both filled with natural hot springs geothermal water. Changing rooms are easily accessible from the swimming pools and are equiped with secure lockers and hot showers.

With clean, tidy and spacious place, canteens at Beijing Foreign Studies University offers three meals and midnight snack with different dishes and home style taste food for international students. International students can use campus card buying food and the food fee is according to what they eat every day.  With reasonable price, international students can have delicious food, and these canteens get high praised by students and it is very popular among them. Many small restaurants and supermarkets around campus are available for international students to make convenient life for them.
