Universities in the Central African Republic include the University of Bangui, which is located in Bangui and includes a medical school, and Euclid University, which is an intergovernmental international university.
University of Bangui
This is a public university located in Bangui. It was established in 1969 and has more than 6500 students. It is officially recognized and supervised by the ministry of higher education, scientific, and technical research.
It offers associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, doctorate degrees, master’s degrees, and a professional degree. Fees range from an equivalent of $6240. There are 8 major divisions at the university includes:
- The Institute of Applied Linguistics- fields of study include applied linguistics, translation, and interpretation.
- Arts and humanities faculty- anthropology, arts and humanities, geography, communication studies, English, educational sciences, history, information sciences, philosophy, social sciences, modern languages, Spanish, and sociology.
- Business management institute- business administration is the main field of study.
- Faculty of health and sciences- fields include biomedicine, community health, anesthesiology, gynecology and obstetrics, health sciences, health education, laboratory techniques, medicine, midwifery, nursing, pediatrics, public health, social work, and surgery.
- Higher Teacher Training College School- fields include agricultural education, agriculture, agricultural engineering, arts and humanities, biological and life sciences, earth sciences, cattle breeding, educational and student counseling, education psychology, forestry, geography, human geography, mathematics, history, mathematics education, modern languages, pedagogy, physics, primary education, teacher training, and secondary education.
- Rural Development- fields include cattle breeding, water management, forestry, and rural studies.
- Faculty of Law and economics- fields include law, economics, management, private law, public law, and rural planning.
- Technology and science institution- fields include biology, building technologies, chemistry, computer engineering, civil engineering, computer science, geology, geological engineering, industrial engineering, mathematics, mining engineering, physics, technology, and science education.
EUCLID UNIVERSITY
EUCLID is an intergovernmental agreement with a university charter. It is available in about 12 states, with the mandate of training officials for member states but also offers programs to the general public.
The major languages used are English and French. It is also officially recognized by the ministry of higher education, scientific, and technical research in the Central African Republic.
The institute offers graduate programs in diplomacy, international law, mediation and conflict resolution, sustainable development, Islamic finance, interreligious dialogue, climate and energy studies, international public health.
Other joint degree programs include MBA in Islamic finance, MBA in leather commerce and industry, Masters in international public administration.
