Every year there is an increase in the number of students who wish the study in Cameroon. To facilitate this, various companies and institutions are there to provide full and partial scholarships to assist students with fees and tuition. Let’s take a brief look at some of the scholarships on offer
West African Research Association
The West African Research Association (WARA) is partly funded by the State Department and provides students, scholars, and organizations with the resources to engage in American-West African communication and collaboration. WARA Scholarships include:
WARA Pre-Doctoral Fellowships are given to eligible applicants for a summer of research in Cameroon or other West African countries. Candidates must clearly describe the research to be conducted leading to a dissertation. Besides travel expenses, recipients also are awarded another $3,000.
Post-Doctoral Fellowships are available once the dissertation is done for those scholars with additional research studies to work on. Criteria are similar to the pre-doctoral fellowships as are the monetary awards.
Fulbright Scholarships
Fulbright Scholarships to Cameroon are fully funded scholarships for Doctorate level students studying health sciences, including HIV/AIDs research, political or social sciences, and technology. These awards are extremely competitive.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is intended to provide disadvantaged students, particularly those limited financially, with the necessary funds to participate in unique and competitive study abroad programs. Funding is up to $7,000 and is given to qualified students annually.

Scholarship Application Requirements: kindly note the various requirements for application for scholarships for the various areas of study.
Bachelor /Undergraduate Programs:
- O’ Level certificates
- A' Level certificates
- Proof of acceptance into the Institution or proof of study
- Passport-sized photos
- Passport copy
- Health Insurance
- Transcripts showing the subjects and grades passed with a minimum of 6 passes in IGSE or equivalent high school qualification.
- Proof of general English proficiency requirements
- Motivational letter
Master Degree
- The following documents must be sent with all applications:
- Certified copy of undergraduate degree and academic transcript
- One passport size photo with the applicant's name written at the back
- One academic reference in a sealed envelope
- One employment reference in a sealed envelope.
- Motivational letter
Ph. D
- A cover page with:
- Full names as on your identification documents
- Full contact details, address, email, and telephone number
- Name of the institution at which you wish to complete your Ph.D. studies full time.
- Letter of acceptance by the university that you will be registered for the Ph.D. study.
- A motivational letter of not more than 500 words.
- A research proposal stating the problem statement, methodology, feasibility of your study, and the contribution it will make to the body of knowledge in the relevant field.
