The Royal University of Fine Arts was established in 1917 inside the Royal Palace and because the Palace was small to house the School, the King tasked a French artist and seven other Cambodian artists to establish a new school of a new school of arts which was then established at the present site it now stands.
In 1965 it was then transformed into a university .It was then clossed in 1975 together with other educational institutions when Khmer Rouge into power and was later re - opened in 1988.
It has six fuculties and they are listed below:
