Pre-school education in Burkina Faso encompasses the ages between 3 and 6. Pre-primary education is one of the most important educational levels and a foundation on which children start their academic journey. Attendance to pre-school is still very low as only a few children are enrolled in pre-school. Pre-school education is aimed at the physical, social, and intellectual development of children to facilitate their transition and integration into formal education. Pre-primary education covers three years and is for children aged 3 to 6 years.
It is provided by nursery schools, kindergarten schools, and daycare centers, to mention but a few. A few children are enrolled in pr-primary education in Burkina Faso but due to the ever-increasing importance of pre-primary education, the government is making efforts to improve enrolment rates into pre-schools to better prepare students for primary education.
