Living as a student in Botswana can be quite refreshing despite the hectic student schedule. The friendly locals create an environment that makes any international student’s stay worthwhile.

Universities and other tertiary institutions in Botswana usually follow a two-semester calendar with students sitting for examinations at the end of each semester. Lectures usually kick start at 8 am and last between 3 to 6 hours depending on the program.

On public holidays and semester breaks the institutions close down, although the university buzz dies down international students can still stay on campus.


The on-campus experience is also a breath of fresh air as universities in Botswana always seek to meet the international standards of lecturing and facilities.

Botswana’s institutions’ take pride in their state of the art indoor and outdoor on-campus facilities, that are considered to be amongst the best in the region, with accredited sporting facilities, gyms, student housing libraries, and student centers.

Whether it is inside or outside the classroom, Botswana offers a learning environment filled with opportunities for personal development, academic excellence, and networks. When you finally leave the country, you are bound to carry a piece of it within your character.
