Faculty Information

Faculty of Civil Engineering: SF is the main faculty of the university. Here professional specialists are trained for various sectors of construction. The faculty is preparing to issue diplomas recognized in the EU countries to its graduates shortly.

Faculty of Electronic Informational Systems: FEIS is engaged in the research and training of highly qualified personnel for the rapidly developing sectors of the information and electronic profile in the western region of the Republic of Belarus.

Faculty of Engineering Systems and Ecology: The faculty organizes the training of engineers to solve environmental problems in water management, organize the safe life of people, and introduce effective technologies for the purification of natural and wastewaters.

Faculty of Economics: The EF is designed to solve regional needs for specialists in the economic sphere - accountants, economists, managers, marketers.

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering: MSF is engaged in the research and training of highly qualified personnel for engineering industries.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AT BrSTU

International students who desire to pursue a higher degree at Brest State Technical University would need to get an invitation letter from the university which serves as an acceptance letter that they can use to apply for a visa at the nearest embassy or consulate of Belarus.

Documents Needed For Invitation

For applicants from countries of visa entry into the Republic of Belarus, you must receive an invitation to study to open a student visa.To receive an invitation, you send copies of the necessary documents to the email address [email protected].

  • An application form filled in English
  • A legally verified copy of the Certificate of secondary education and a list of studied subjects and examination grades.
  • A copy of international passport and a copy of birth certificate.
  • A notarized copy of the standard medical certificate issued by the official health care agency in the applicant's home country. The health certificate must have chest X-ray results to certify that there is no active tuberculosis.
  • A certificate of a negative HIV-infection reaction issued by an official health care establishment of the candidate's native country.
  • A personal bank account statement (or the sponsor’s bank account statement) showing at least $700 per month of stay.
  • A notarized letter from the sponsor (parents, legal guardians, other) assuming full financial responsibility.

Enrollment Procedure

 Before enrolling in a university and beginning training, international students typically;

  • Go through the registration procedure at the Department of State Inspection within ten working days upon arrival in the Republic of Belarus;
  • Conclude an agreement for training and accommodation;
  • Make payment for tuition and accommodation for the year;
  • Conclude a compulsory health insurance contract;
  • Undergo a compulsory medical examination.

Documents submitted to the admissions office upon arrival in Belarus

  • Originals of education documents indicating the subjects studied and the grades (points) obtained on them in exams;
  • The original of the medical report on the state of health (obtained in the health care institutions of the Republic of Belarus);
  • Medical certificate confirming the absence of HIV infection;
  • Original birth certificate;
  • Application for admission to the training of the established form;
  • Compulsory health insurance contract;
  • 6 photos, 3x4 cm.

The health center of the university is provided with a vaccination card or an extract from the preventive vaccination card with an indication of vaccinations and the date of their implementation from birth, including the Mantoux reaction.

The listed documents, executed in a foreign language, are simultaneously accompanied by their translation into Belarusian or Russian, certified by a notary.

International students must pay in the currency specified and before they enroll for classes at BrSTU. The above fees do not include other additional fees such as registration fees, academic fees, and other miscellaneous fees as it applies to your desired program of study.

Please note that the tuition is paid on the territory of the Republic of Belarus in Belarusian rubles at the rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus on the day the payment is made; when paying from abroad, payment is made in US dollars.

Scholarships

BrSTU is committed to providing all students with access to quality education easily, so it includes funding for the first time in many years. This new development will continue, and more international students will benefit from the scholarships offered by the university.

Currently, new students applying for any of the courses offered are eligible for full scholarships while studying. The scholarship committee is all based on hard work and competition, the committee to be selected and the department will evaluate their previous academic performance, the successful students will receive an invitation and scholarships from the university.


About Brest State Technical University

The Brest State Technical University (BrSTU) is a large research and educational centre in the western region of the Republic of Belarus. Here, scientific research is carried out in the fields of construction, architecture, electronics, engineering, economics, and ecology. Brest State Technical University is located in the city of Brest, which is the administrative centre of the Brest region, located in the southwestern part of Belarus and adjacent to the European Union.

There are 5 main faculties offering over 100 programs and 29 specialities at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. There are also additional functions which include a preparatory school and an international training institute offering one-year certificate learning and courses.

History

This university was established as the School of Civil Engineering on April 1, 1966. Initially, 330 full-time students and 110 sophomores were admitted. The faculty consists of 32 teachers. There were 2,700 students in 1969, including 1,960 full-time students, 480 sophomores, and 260 part-time students.

The faculty has increased to 186 teachers. In 1989, it was restructured into a polytechnic. Since then, the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics and the Department of Economics have been opened one after another, and new majors have continued to emerge; the scope of research work has continued to expand.

It is now the largest technical higher education institution in the western region of Belarus. This National Technical University established in 2000 has more than 18,000 experts who graduated from the institution.

BrSTU Today

The University has been training foreign students since 2008 and will be happy to invite students from all over the world to study. Currently, the University has over 250 students who are from Turkmenistan, China, Nigeria, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Lebanon, and Libya. The University also participates in the implementation of the Erasmus + project including the exchange of students, teachers.

Today training at BrSTU is carried out at 6 faculties. Specialists are trained in 29 specialties. The university has more than 7,000 students from Belarus and 20 foreign countries, including Kazakhstan, China, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Russia, and others.

Over 437 people teach at the university, including with degrees and titles. BrSTU is a member of the Association of European Faculties of Civil Engineering, the Baltic Sea Academy, and the Association of Technical Universities, which participates in international projects.

The university has a successful quality management system. In 2018, the university's quality management system is certified for compliance with the requirements of the state standard STB ISO 9001-2015.

STUDENT LIFE AT BrSTU

Brest State Technical University is located in the city of Brest, which is the administrative center of the Brest region, located in the southwestern part of Belarus and adjacent to the European Union. Currently, there are more than 300,000 residents in Brest. Based on the kindness and friendliness of the residents to foreigners and the extremely low crime rate, foreign students can stroll on the streets of Brest comfortably at night without worrying about safety issues.

BrSTU has given its international students home and warmth that cannot be rivaled anywhere else. The teachers from the International Exchange Office and the seniors offer airport pick-ups for new students and accommodation is provided for all foreign students on campus. The dormitory building is not far from the teaching building, so students do not have to spend too much time on the way to class.

In the one-year preparatory course, foreign students mainly study Russian, and after obtaining the corresponding Russian certificate, they enter the formal department to study for a degree. Russian teachers are not only experienced in teaching, but also caring for international students in life, leading them to the hospital, to the supermarket, to the post office, to the train station, and giving them motherly care.

The school is large and small at the same time, and because of this, the teacher knows every one of his students. Whenever foreign students encounter difficulties, BrSTU always spares no effort to help them. The university does not only has an excellent educational tradition but also has been committed to enriching students' after-school life.

On holidays, the counselor or the staff of the International Exchange Office will organize students to visit Belarus and various European countries. Every year, international students have several opportunities to come into contact with scenic spots and universities in different countries each year.

In addition to academic work, BrSTU students have the opportunity to realize themselves in creativity, in sports, in social activities - within the framework of the trade union committee and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union.

The university also has a sports center and different types of music clubs and bands. Therefore, every international student studying in our school has the opportunity to show off their cultural and sports expertise.

 

CAMPUS LIFE AT BrSTU

Geographically, Brest State Technical University is organized according to a system that has become classic for higher educational institutions all over the world. The layout of the BrSTU is a fairly compact university town (campus), located on the largest transport artery of Brest - Moskovskaya Street.

This makes it possible to optimally organize the educational process, on the one hand, eliminating the problem of transporting students living in the city to the university, and on the other, minimizing the territorial movement of students during classes.

The campus consists of a complex of administrative and educational buildings and territories, premises for the service sector, as well as dormitories where nonresident students and university staff live.

There is a sanatorium preventorium for 50 places on the campus, which is provided with its catering unit with a dining room. More than 700 students rest here throughout the year. There is a public catering complex "Zodchie" for 450 seats, which includes: 2 canteens, a cookery shop, a cafe, a bar.

For physical education and sports, there are two sports and playing halls, a specialized hall for weightlifting, wrestling, and fencing. Part of the campus is reserved for sports grounds.

A foreign student is guaranteed a place in the university dormitory. The dormitories on campus are well-equipped to make study and living comfortable and relaxing. The dormitories with all the amenities are located on the campus within a five-minute walk from the university (block system, rooms for 2 - 3 people).

The estimated cost of living per academic year is $370 (US Dollars). International students are offered accommodation in one of the several campus-based dormitories: 2-or 3- bedrooms at $60* per person per month. Students share facilities (lavatories, kitchens) with Belarussian and international students. Please note that the accommodation fees are liable to change according to city communal rates.

The city of Brest is roofed with various private homes that offer student rent at affordable prices. Some students, both local and foreign, have chosen to live in private rented accommodation around the city. Rental prices depend on the location, type of home, and any additional equipment offered, typically the monthly rental price ranges from $100 to $250 (US Dollars) per month in terms of equipment and vouchers.

There are a few students who split the rent and get a two-bedroom or three-bedroom apartment, rent it together, and split the bill evenly. For personalization and easy access to the city, this option may be a good one but keep in mind that a contract or agreement with the landlord may be required for a period of months to 1 year.

About Brest

The Brest region is one of the six regions of Belarus, located in the south-west of the country. In the west, the Brest region borders Poland, in the south - with Ukraine. Brest region is a land of amazing nature. On the territory of the region, there are nature reserves and sanctuaries that have the status of specially protected natural areas.

The population of the Brest region stands at 1 million 347.0 thousand people live in the Brest region (recent statistics). As with the rest of the country, the main religion is Orthodoxy.

Brest is a regional administrative center. The region includes 16 districts, 20 cities (of which three are regional subordination - Brest, Baranovichi, and Pinsk), 9 urban-type settlements, 2178 rural settlements. The visiting card of the region is the memorial "Brest Hero Fortress" and the national park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha”.
