Pre-primary education is education for children aged below 6 before the start of their primary education. Pre-primary education in Bangladesh is usually divided into two stages, namely kindergarten, nursery, or playgroup for children aged 3 to 5 years, and pre-primary or kindergarten education for children aged 5 to 6 years. There has been a growing awareness of the significance of pre-primary education and the need for appropriate care of young children, hence the increase in the number of early childhood educational institutions. These are offered mostly by private organizations or agencies through nursery schools. Non-Government Organisations also cater to the needs of pre-primary education, particularly for the poor communities.
