Higher education in Angola has been on the increase over the years with the Government working hard to improve and promote the education sector. There are several accredited registered universities in Angola which are internationally recognized and offering accredited and recognized degrees. Some of the Universities are highlighted below:

 Agostino Neto University

The Agostino Neto University is located in Luanda and is the largest University in Angola. It is a public university that was established in 1962. It is one of the best-ranked universities in Angola and is ranked 9320 in the world. It has campuses in Benguela, Hula, Huambo, and Kwanza-Sul. It is officially accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

It offers bachelor's and master's degrees in various areas of study. The university is also open to international students who have to pay around $500- $1000 per year for bachelor's programs and between $1000-3750 for postgraduate studies. It has an enrolment of about 22 500 students who are tutored by more than 2000 academic staff and professors.

Its academic year is divided into 2 semesters. The university is an active participant in international academic exchange programs between institutions. All applicants, both local and international, must go through the application process that requires them to take an entrance examination.

There are various faculties at the university like the faculties of Architecture and fine arts, Natural sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Engineering, Humanities, Medicine, Educational Sciences, the Higher Institute of Tourism, the Higher Institute of Health Sciences, and the higher Polytechnic Institute in Viana

November 11 university-It is a public non-profit university located in Cabinda. The university was established in 2009 and as campuses in, Mbanza Kongo, Buco-Zau, and Soyo.

The university is officially recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation. It is a Co-educational facility and also accepts international students.

The university is ranked at number 15 in Angola and about 15850 in the world. It has a total enrolment of 12 500 students with a total of 350 staff dedicated to making learning easy for students and a student-staff ratio of 36.

The university focuses on 5 main areas of expertise and research. These are:

Legal and civil sciences

Health Sciences-medicine, nursing, clinical psychology

Science Education-biology, mathematics, psychology, pedagogy, physics, education, chemistry, English language teaching.

Economics- macroeconomics

Science in management-finance, auditing, business management, and accounting.

The Catholic University of Angola-the the Catholic University of Angola is a private institution located in Luanda. It was established in 1997 and has an enrollment of up to 5500 students. It is ranked at number 2 in Angola and 8188 in the world according to Unirank university rankings.

It is open to international students and its admission is based on the completion of an entrance examination. Tuition fees are at about $1000-2500 for undergraduate programs and $5000-6250 per year for postgraduate programs for locals. International students are expected to pay up to $1750 for undergraduate and $5000-7500 per year for postgraduate studies as well.

The institution offers recognized degrees in undergraduate and postgraduate programs including Design, Arts, Humanities, Business Studies, Politics, Social Sciences, Languages, Culture, Linguistics, Nursing, Health, Pharmacy, Medicine, Engineering, Information, and Technology, Mathematics and Natural sciences.

Its academic structure is made up of the faculties of Engineering, Economics and Management, Law, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mineral resources, Environment, and technology institute, Social Assistants and Higher Civic Education Institute, and the Institute of Philosophy.

The Methodist University of Angola-this is a private university in Luanda established in 2007 and officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation. the University is ranked as number 4 In Angola and at 14020 in the world according to Edurank.

It has a total enrollment of up to 12500 students and an acceptance rate of 55%. The institution is made up of 6 faculties with respective and related programs as shown below:

Faculty of Architecture-Architecture and urbanism.

Faculty of Engineering-the following programs are found under this faculty namely, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Electrical Systems, and lastly Environmental Engineering.

Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences-is comprised of programs like Business Management and Administration, Economy, Environment, and Territory Management.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences- programs include Portuguese language and Communication, Tourism and Hotel Management, Psychology, Philosophy, and the Law school.

The Independent University of Angola- the Independent University of Angola is a private institution established in 2004 in Luanda and has a total enrollment of up to 7500 students. It has an acceptance rate of 95%. It is ranked at number 3 in Angola and 13952 in the World according to Edurank. The university’s academic structure is made up of the

 Faculties of Law- programs under this faculty include Cyber laws, Law Studies, and Law and Technology.

Faculty of Engineering- programs include Communications Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, National Resources, and Environmental Engineering.

Science-Psychology falls under this faculty.

Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University- It is a non-profit university located in Lubango and was established in the year 1963. It is Funded and Administered by the Angolan Government. The university is duly and officially accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation. It is ranked at 14 129 in the world and 6th in Angola according to Edurank.

The institution has a total enrollment of 9500 students and an acceptance rate of 35%. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Design, Arts, Humanities, Business, Social sciences, Engineering, Nursing, health, Pharmacy, Medicine, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Politics.

Jean Paget University- Jean Paget University is a private institution established in 2000. It has a total enrolment of 9500 and an acceptance rate of 85%. It is located in Viana, Luanda. According to Edurank, the university is ranked at number 14 889 in the world and number 10 in Angola.

It is officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
